Sono appena arrivata a Chicago e starò qui per un po’, in modo da poter trovare tanti posti particolari da consigliarvi.
La cosa che amo di più di questa città è camminare in giro cercando di trovare locali particolari!
Durante il mio primo giorno sono stata nella zona a sud della città (Bridgeport), che negli ultimi anni sta crescendo soprattutto come zona di artisti!
Grazie alla mia amica Giulia ho potuto scoprire la Pleasent House, un piccolo locale dove abbiamo pranzato. In questa piccolissima bakery si possono mangiare delle ottime torte salate e specialità dolci. La migliore torta, a mio parere, è la Chicken Balti Pie, con pollo e curry dal sapore speziato, ma vi consiglio di provare anche la Mushroom&Kale Pie!
Proprio accanto alla Pleasent House abbiamo trovato Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar, locale per metà adibito alla vendita di alcolici per metà bar, fondato nel 1939. Vi consiglio di dare un’occhiata a questo posto per la quantità immensa di coloratissime bottiglie che, quando la luce filtra attraverso di loro, creano giochi di colore e luce.

The thing I love the most is that here I walk all day long going around trying to find new places!
During my first day I went to the South part of the city (Bridgeport), which is changing and growing into an artists neighborhood.
Giulia, a friend of mine, guided me discovering new places like Pleasant House, where we had lunch. This small bakery make amazing savory pies and specialty sweets as well. The best pie, on my opinion, was the one called Chicken Balti Pie, all-natural chicken in fresh-ground curry spices with tomato and Nigella seeds, but I suggest that you also try the Mushroom&Kale Pie!
Just next to Pleasent House there is Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar, which is half liquor store half neighborhood tavern, founded in 1939. It must be seen because of the large quantity of colorful bottles that, when the light filters trought them, create suggestive game of colors and lights.
